Infinite Summer Due Out January 22 via Memphis Industries

NZCA Lines, the London-based project of Michael Lovett, are releasing their second album, Infinite Summer, on January 22 via Memphis Industries. NZCA Lines previously shared the crazy video for Infinite Summer track “Persephone Dreams,” in which a one night stand resulted in a man being sucked into a black hole within the woman he picked up. That was followed by the audio for “Two Hearts.” Now “Two Hearts” has a video directed by Leo Stamps. It’s a simple, but stylish clip featuring the band against a black background with lots of flashing colored lights.
Previously NZCA Lines was more of a solo project, but for Infinite Summer Lovett is joined by two females, Charlotte Hatherly (Ash, Bat For Lashes) and Sarah Jones (Hot Chip). Jones is featured prominently in the video.
Lovett commented on the video in a press release: “I feel the video for ‘Two Hearts’ mirrors the song’s alternating intimacy and bombast. Lyrically the song is about isolation and the distance in a relationship, and here Sarah and I sing our parts separately, each alone in a void lit by blinding strobes and icy pillars of light.”
The album was recorded over the last two years with Charlie Alex March (Veronica Falls) as “studio co-conspirator” and was mixed by David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals). Lovett says that the album is influenced by his love of science fiction authors such as Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey) and Philip K. Dick (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep), explaining the album’s concept in a previous press release as such: “The album is based around the idea of a far-future Earth, where the sun has expanded to the size of a red giant and our extinction is imminent. Half of the world is covered by a city [Cairo-Athens] that clings to the past and embraces its destruction, whilst the other half is trying to rebuild, create and make something new. Yet, it’s good on both sides because it’s warm everywhere and people just party most of the time.”
Lovett has also been in Metronomy’s touring band for the last couple of years and “Two Hearts” definitely sounds like it could be the sibling to a Metronomy song.

Has an interesting sound to it. I like the meaning of it. I am guessing it has to do with a long lost relationship that is still real. They both love each other but can’t find their way back to one another.
