Okkervil River are releasing a new album, Away, on September 9 via ATO. Previously the band had shared the album’s first single, “Okkervil River R.I.P.,” as well as its video. Now the band have shared a video for “The Industry.” The song seems to commenting on the declining state of the music industry and the video features frontman Will Sheff as an astronaut who has returned to a foreign and changed Earth, one in which strange clowns police the youth who have Walkmans that pump pink liquid into (or out of) their hearts. It seems as though CDs might be the answer and there’s also a 2001: A Space Odyssey reference, but who knows exactly what director Christopher Good is getting at. Watch below.
