Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney have long said they have no plans to make a fourth movie in the Ocean’s 11 comedy heist film series, with 2007’s Ocean’s 13 being its swansong. Instead, Soderbergh and Clooney have developed a female fronted spinoff movie, Ocean’s 8, and now the first trailer has been shared. Sandra Bullock stars as Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of Danny Ocean, Clooney’s character in the main movie series. Freshly released from prison, Debbie recruits a team of criminals to help her rob the Met Gala. The cast includes Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, and Awkwafina. Watch the trailer below.
Ocean’s 8 is due out June 8, 2018. Soderbergh and Clooney produce and Gary Ross (Pleasantville, The Hunger Games) co-writes and directs. The cast also includes James Corden, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, and Richard Armitage. Matt Damon and Carl Reiner have cameos reprising their Ocean’s 11 rolls as Linus Caldwell and Saul Bloom. Several notable people in the fashion industry also have cameos as themselves (including Anna Wintour, Alexander Wang, Kim Kardashian, and Zac Posen).
