Sharon Van Etten has premiered a brand new music video featuring “Our Love,” taken off this year’s standout album Are We There. Directed by Karen Collins, the mostly black-and-white visual captures Van Etten enjoying that great feeling of staying in bed with nothing in particular planned for the day. Featuring plenty of close-up shots, often with the hands of an unseen man moving across her body, Van Etten manages to envelop an understated sexiness onto her heartache.

“Working with Karen was a dream,” says Van Etten. “We sat together and talked about imagery and feeling and distance versus connection. Lightness versus darkness. Referencing directors like Tarkovsky to articulate the beauty in the understatement and slowness. ‘Our Love’ is about someone acknowledging that having loved and letting it be over can be just as beautiful as being in love. It can also be a form of rebirth and renewal and inspiring and uplifting, even in the darkness and sadness. I think Karen captured that really well…”
