Two Become One

Sigur Rós
On the 14th entry to their “Mystery Film Experiment” Sigur Rós continue to put the visual accompaniment of their latest album Valtari in very capable hands. The latest installment sees Swedish director Christian Larson collaborating with Antwerp-born choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui to create a unique kind of communication. Using Valtari‘s title track, as well as “Ekki Múkk,” “Rembihnútur,” and “Varúð,” the clip follows a young man and woman as they cross paths in an abandoned industrial building.
At first merely mimicking one another in their movements, the two soon collide in a way that is both beautiful and even sexual. “There was an interesting contrast with this very harsh environment,” says Larson. “I wanted to try and make a dialogue through movement, without anyone saying anything.”

The video of this song deserves a great appreciation. They have choreographed and filmed this video so well. The color tones and the dance steps portray the emotions and feelings of person so well and the intensity was so immense.
