Stephen Colbert will soon be taking over David Letterman’s late night show timeslot on CBS, now that Letterman has retired. Even though he hosted The Colbert Report for years, as a funny warm up he guest hosted an episode of Only in Monroe, a public access TV show only broadcast in Michigan on MPACT (Monroe Public Access Cable Television). And Colbert landed a pretty big guest, Michigan native Eminem.

One can imagine that it’s the biggest guest (and biggest guest host) Only in Monroe has ever had, but we’ve never watched the show before, so who knows. Check out the episode below, but fast-forward to the 22:00 mark to see the Eminem interview. Although the rest of the show is amusing as well, especially if you’re into facts about the city of Monroe, Michigan (it’s the birthplace of the La-Z-Boy apparently) or want to see Colbert interview the show’s regular hosts (one is a former Miss America winner from 1988).

I found this interview to be quite odd. I wasn’t sure if Stephen Colbert didn’t really realize who Eminem was. It is funny but at the same time confusing. Eminem actually looked like he was getting frustrated with him.

I thought this had to be a joke. I have followed Eminem’s work for a long time now. He let’s his fans know how hard it was for him growing up Eminem makes it clear in his music to take advantage of the opportunities that are given to you. You might not get them again.

He also details how all the people that didn’t believe in him in the past, do not deserve his recognition anymore. He needed their support when he was struggling. The problem was they weren’t there for him. They thought he was full of it.

Eminem looked like a punk trying to be someone in their eyes. He had to do most of it with little support. Now he is who he said he would be, those people’s negativity doesn’t apply anymore. Their attitudes changed though.

Now they want to be in the spot light. Too bad for them because Eminem will never tell the public that he knew certain people. Those who failed him will be failed now. They do not get a chance to be interviewed by news in order to get money off of their stories.

This right was taken away from them when they let Eminem down. All he wanted was support and it isn’t what he got. You can tell the anger he had for people like that. They were suppose to be close friends and family.

They showed him their true colors. This made him a stronger man. After he realized that he didn’t need negative people to get where he is now, it came clear. You are who you say you are.
