Watch: Sufjan Stevens - “Silver & Gold” Video
A Day at the Beach
Nov 09, 2012
Sufjan Stevens
Set to release his five EP boxset Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols 6-10 next week on Nov. 13, Sufjan Stevens has premiered a new music video to accompany the collection’s title track.
Far less murdery than the animated “Mr. Frosty Man,” this new clip is nothing more than a old home movie capturing a young boy (Stevens’ nephew Gavin) playing on a beach and trying to fly a kite.
Not a direct cover of the original “Silver and Gold” by J. Marks, Stevens instead whispers lines like “Oh I’m getting old. Oh I’m getting old. Everyone wishes for youth. / How have I wasted my life? / Trusting the pleasure it gives here on earth.” Click below to watch.
