Apparently The Hold Steady don’t think it’s quite so hip to be square. When covering Huey Lewis & the News’ 1985 hit “The Power of Love” for the A.V. Club’s Undercover series, Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn admits that he wasn’t exactly a fan of the song when it came out, saying that he doesn’t have a good relationship to the song and that “I was a little old for this song probably, I was probably already into punk rock when I heard this song.” He concedes that it’s “not a bad song” and the band has a fondness for it due to its inclusion in Back to the Future. Guitarist Tad Kubler also decides that Huey Lewis is “probably a pretty cool dude” for playing on records by The Rolling Stones and Elvis Costello.
