The Last Shadow Puppets (the duo of Miles Kane and Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner) released their long-awaited sophomore album, Everything You’ve Come to Expect, back in April via Domino. Last night at their show in Manchester they covered The Smiths’ “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me” with The Smiths’ own Johnny Marr on guitar. They also covered The Falls’ “Totally Wired” with Marr. Also at the end of last month The Last Shadow Puppets performed at the Open’er Festival in Gdynia, Poland and improvised a song about Tame Impala and the impending storm that was coming. Watch videos of all three performances below.

Finally, The Smiths’ drummer Mike Joyce was in the audience last night and posted a funny story about the show to his Facebook page: “So I’m at The Last Shadow Puppets gig tonight and Johnny Marr walks on and they play, ‘Last Night I Dreamt…’ The guy next to me says, ‘Seen the guy on the right with black hair? That’s Johnny Marr, the guitarist from The Smiths and this is a Smiths song they’re playing.’ I didn’t say owt, I just couldn’t.”
