The New Pornographers are releasing a new album, Whiteout Conditions, on April 7 on the band’s own Collected Works label, in partnership with Concord. Previously they shared the album’s first single, “High Ticket Attractions,” via an interactive lyric video, along with the audio for “This Is the World of the Theater.” Now “High Ticket Attractions” has a video. Dan Huiting directed the clip, which features a bunch of uniform wearing high school students destroying their school and brandishing weapons (swords, crossbows, etc.). Watch the craziness below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.
Whiteout Conditions is the follow-up to 2014’s Brill Bruisers. Co-founder Carl Newman had this to say about the new album in a previous press release: “On other records it felt like sometimes it was very clear: oh, this is a fast one with me singing, and then the next would be a slow song with Neko [Case] singing. And I’ve always liked that in a White Album kind of way, being a band that just does whatever the hell they want from track to track. ‘Let’s try to give it a sound and see how focused we can make it.’ And on this record, I think we went a lot farther down that road.”
