The Smashing Pumpkins have premiered a brand new music video for “Drum + Fife,” the latest single from the band’s album Monuments To An Elegy. Directed by Ahlander/Antiga, the visual follows a group of Arabic children as they engage in a imaginary battle with slingshots. What begins as innocent play however soon erupts into something deadly, as forgotten IEDs begin to erupt around them.
“I asked, albeit in an allegorical way, for the video to represent what our returning soldiers are going through with PTSD, and I feel that the directors captured that with poignancy,” says frontman Billy Corgan in a press release. “I couldn’t be more proud of the message we’re sending that we care what happens to those that are out there hurting.” Click below to watch.
