Nick Cave: Mercy on Me is a new biographical graphic novel about Nick Cave that spans from his childhood to his work with The Birthday Party and The Bad Seeds and comes from German writer/artist Reinhard Kleist, who has previously done graphic novels on Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The 328 page black & white book is due out September 7 via First Second and SelfMadeHero and now a trailer for it has been shared, which you can watch below.

Cave had this to say about Mercy on Me in a statement: “Reinhard Kleist, master graphic novelist and myth-maker has - yet again - blown apart the conventions of the graphic novel by concocting a terrifying conflation of Cave songs, biographical half-truths and complete fabulations and creating a complex, chilling and completely bizarre journey into Cave World. Closer to the truth than any biography, that’s for sure! But for the record, I never killed Elisa Day.”

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds released a brand new album last September, Skeleton Tree. The whole thing premiered in movie theaters for one night only via its accompanying black & white feature film, One More Time With Feeling, shot partially in 3D and directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly).
