Watch: U2 - “Song For Someone” Video/Short Film Starring Woody Harrelson
Debuted During Rectify's Season Premiere Last Night

U2
U2 has shared a video/short film for “Song For Someone.” It stars Woody Harrelson as a convict who is released from jail and is met by his daughter, who he hasn’t seen in years. Harrelson’s own real life daughter, Zoe Harrelson, plays the daughter. The awkward interactions between the parolee and his daughter ring true and don’t tip over into melodrama.
Vincent Haycock directed the clip, which debuted last night during the third season premiere of SundanceTV’s acclaimed show Rectify. Rectify is about a man released from jail after 19 years on death row when new DNA evidence overturns his conviction, making it a fitting place to first air the “Song For Someone” video.
The song can be found on U2’s Songs of Innocence, which was given away for free last year. Read our interview, posted yesterday, with Aden Young, the star of Rectify.
