“Watchmen” – Watch Doctor Manhattan Return in the First Full Trailer for HBO’s New Series
A Sequel to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Iconic Comic Book Series

Watchmen
HBO has shared the first full trailer for Watchmen, which is due out this fall and is based on the DC Comics miniseries/graphic novel from 1986 and 1987 that was written by Alan Moore and drawn by Dave Gibbons. In it the iconic character of Doctor Manhattan briefly returns. It debuted at Comic-Con and follows a teaser trailer shared back in May. Watchmen premieres on HBO in October. Watch the trailer below.
Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) is behind the TV series, which is not a straight up adaptation of the source material, but is more of a sequel set in the world of Watchmen, but perhaps set many years after the events of the original.
Watchmen was previously faithfully adapted into a 2009 feature film by Zach Snyder, prior to his work with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League. The new series stars Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Jeremy Irons, Frances Fisher, Jean Smart, and others. There have been various comic book prequels and sequels to Watchmen in the last few years, but none of them had the involvement of Moore or Gibbons (Moore has long since severed ties with DC over disagreements due to ownership issues).
