Christopher McQuarrie is on board to write the script for Fox’s next Wolverine feature (the sequel to this summer’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, according to this Hollywood Reporter item. The story will be based on a 1980s Frank Miller/Chris Claremont miniseries in which Wolverine travels to Japan, something that was hinted at in one of the two post end credits scenes tagged onto X-Men Origins: Wolverine. McQuarrie had originally teamed up with Bryan Singer for 2000’s X-Men only to remove his name from the final version after David Hayter’s script was mostly used. McQuarrie also wrote 1994’s The Usual Suspects and 2008’s Valkyrie, as well as writing and directing 2000’s The Way of the Gun. Hugh Jackman is set to reprise the role of Wolverine.
