Andy Stack of Wye Oak has announced a new solo project under the name Joyero and shared his first single under that moniker, “Salt Mine.” The single is out now via Merge. Joyero also has some upcoming tour dates opening for Lambchop. Check out the song and tour dates below.

Stack had this to say about the song in a press release: “Today I’m sharing some music that has been a long time coming. I recorded it out in the desert last winter, and the name of the project is Joyero. Sounds like Joy Arrow. Or Joy Air, Oh! ‘Salt Mine’ draws on lingering physical paranoias, persistent truths which keep coming in spite of the barriers that we erect. More songs about paranoia coming soon, so stay tuned!”

Wye Oak (Stack and Jenn Wasner) released a new album, The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs, back in April 2018 via Merge. (It was our Album of the Week and one of our Top 100 Albums of 2018.) In February they shared a brand new song, “Evergreen,” via the Adult Swim Singles series (it was one of our Songs of the Week).

Wye Oak are performing at Merge’s 30th anniversary festival in July.
