Yamantaka // Sonic Titan
Earlier this year musical duo Yamantaka // Sonic Titan made a name for themselves utilizing a strange musical blend of psych-noise, metal, and industrial influences with the visual aesthetic of Asian orientalism and modern manga all to create a distinctly bizarre and theatrical artistic presence. Following their self titled debut, members Alaska B and Ruby Kato Attwood has announced that they will premiere their own rock opera in Montreal on Sept. 21. Taking place at this year’s Pop Montreal Festival and presented in three parts, the entitled work “33 // 渦” will explore “ancient Asian and North American mythology in a contemporary setting, replete with aging drag queens, desire, fame, and jealousy and murder.” Tickets are available for purchase on the festival’s website here.
