Yellow Ostrich Break Up
New Project on the Way Called “Human Heat”
Nov 07, 2014 Yellow Ostrich
Sorry Yellow Ostrich fans—the Brooklyn band is calling it a day. The news comes via Facebook, where the band announced their first show, at Glasslands, where it all started four years ago. Check out the full farewell post below:
hi everyone,
alex here. Some big news to pass on today — on December 8, Yellow Ostrich will be playing our final show as a band. We’ve had an amazing few years together, and we couldn’t be more grateful and satisfied, but the time has come to move on to the next thing.
We want to give a huge thanks to all of you, for giving us a chance and listening. Connecting with you guys was the whole point, and we couldn’t have gotten as far as we did without you. we went all over the world with this band, and it was a great ride.
The very first Yellow Ostrich show (as a full band) was at Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn on September 28, 2010. Four years and roughly 250 shows later, we are going to close this chapter at the same venue – Glasslands Gallery on December 8, 2014. Glasslands itself is closing down at the end of 2014, so it will be a fitting farewell to one of our favorite venues, which we played many times. it’s gonna be a special show, so if you’re in the area, please come out — tickets will be available at 1 pm EST today (Friday Nov 7th) here – http://www.theglasslands.com/
This is the end to one chapter, but of course the next one begins — I (alex) have a new project called Human Heat. i just put out an EP which you can check out here – https://humanheat.bandcamp.com/ , and i’m gonna put a band together soon and start playing shows / recording more. stay in touch with http://www.facebook.com/humanheatband or www.humanheatband.com
The other guys will be doing exciting new things as well, so keep an eye out for that. It’s a sad day but also an exciting one – it feels good to end things on a positive note and to look forward to the future. As Bobby D said, don’t look back. But for one more show, we will, and we’re gonna get our shit together and practice up for the final show, it’s gonna be a great one!
thanks again for everything, and see you soon!
alex // YO
