Youth Lagoon Are Calling It Quits
"There is nothing left to say through Youth Lagoon. It will exist no more."

Youth Lagoon
Youth Lagoon is essentially a solo project for Trevor Powers (even though he did tour with a live backing band), so it’s a bit odd to say that Youth Lagoon is breaking up or calling it quits, but that’s essentially what’s happened. Powers has released a statement on Twitter saying that he’s ending the Youth Lagoon project. “There is nothing left to say through Youth Lagoon. It will exist no more,” he writes, later adding, “It’s odd to realize that something you’ve created can have the power of wrapping a leash around your neck and holding you hostage.” Powers says his upcoming tour will be the final Youth Lagoon performances, but promises that he’s not done creatively, saying, “This is far from the end of my undertakings / it is the beginning.” The full statement is below.
Powers released his third Youth Lagoon album, Savage Hills Ballroom, back in September via Fat Possum. Prior to that there was 2013’s Wondrous Bughouse and 2011’s The Year of Hibernation. Below is his statement, followed by Youth Lagoon’s tour dates and the video for “The Knower.” Also read our recent 2015 interview with Youth Lagoon.
