New York City-based duo Cristi Jo and Jessica Zambri, aka Zambri, have announced the release of their debut album House of Baasa. Produced and recorded entirely by the pair themselves, the full-length work is due out April 10 via Kanine. The album title is apparently in reference to a biblical story involving the town of Baasa, which was named after its ruler. A man named Zambri, a servant of the despot, is said to have rebelled against Baasa, killing him and taking over his throne, only to rule for seven days before setting fire to the palace and himself. Before the release of the debut, the Zambri sisters are providing a taste of things to come with the digital single “ICBYS” (an acronym for I Can Believe You Said). For those willing to try, Zambri is also hosting a giveaway where, if you can correctly decipher the lyrics to “ICBYS” and post them at their Facebook page, the artist-picked winner will receive a signed vinyl copy of their EP Glossolalia.
