Billy the Kid DVD
Studio: Zeitgeist
Nov 01, 2008 Year End 2008 - Best of 2008
This film is not a film about the famous gun-slinging outlaw but is, instead, an intimate portrayal of adolescence, family, and heartbreak, all experienced by real-life 15-year-old Billy, who is trying to understand a confusing world in his small hometown in Maine. The coming-of-age documentary from director Jennifer Venditti achieves a remarkable fly-on-the-wall feat as you meet this little man who loves horror movies, Kiss, and a young disabled woman. Extras include a commentary with Venditti and Billy the Kid fan actor Ryan Gosling, the short film Pieces That Don’t Fit (which includes scenes that didn’t make the final cut), and an impressive booklet with an essay from artist/filmmaker/fellow idiosyncratic Miranda July.
