Hallucinating Love

Ninja Tune

Jan 30, 2025 Web Exclusive

Euphoric electronica pairing Maribou State return with their fourth full-length, Hallucinating Love, packed full of blissful bangers. Though heavily indebted to 2000s club music, their intelligent take on dance music continues to avoid heavy beats and face-melting drops in favor of cool, calm sophistication.

Lead single “Otherside” sees Hertfordshire, England boys Chris Davids and Liam Ivory once again joined by long-time collaborator and vocalist Holly Walker for yet another seamlessly sublime union. “Bloom” retains the duo’s signature looped guitars and tropical-sounding percussion, but this time round they are joined by Sudanese Dutch singer/songwriter Gaidaa, whose lush vocals are simply divine. And “Dance on the World” is an instantly addictive psychedelically tinged anthem.

If you’re looking for chill you’ve come to the right place as Hallucinating Love is awash with feel-good vibes and exotic sounds. These 10 sun-kissed tracks are destined to become the soulful soundtrack of summer 2025, and the deep sense of nostalgia they trigger will keep you coming back long after the heat fades.
