How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)
(ABC, WEDNESDAYS 9:30/8:30 CENTRAL)
Apr 03, 2013
Issue #45 - Winter 2013 - Phoenix
Polly (Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke) is a young single mom with a spiky offspring, Natalie (Rachel Eggleston), who has moved back in with her mom Elaine (Weeds’ Elizabeth Perkins) and dad Max (Everybody Loves Raymond‘s Brad Garrett). Polly’s own upbringing was somewhat freewheeling, and she strives to parent Natalie in exactly the opposite fashion, but after a year of living like this, she is still uptight and uncomfortable in her situation. With this many big-name television comedy stars, one would think the show would be a surefire hit. Sadly, that is not the case. The characters struggle a little too hard to be zany. Elaine acts like she’s copying her other co-star, Mary-Louise Parker, taking significant inspiration from the Weeds character’s carefree nature, and Polly’s lines and her downfalls are entirely by-the-numbers. Natalie is simply annoying. How to Live With Your Parents is a generic sitcom with absolutely no hook to cling to. The only hope is that the actors’ comedy chops overcome the material. Being with our family is a beautiful feeling. I am inspired hearing the story of Polly and there are many women exist in our society who love their family so much. Your kids resembles are kid of my brother and they are naughty too. tax resolution services
