Submarines are cool. Last Resort knows this fact. A super nuclear sub, the USS Colorado, is the setting for this Navy show. The Colorado’s crew disobeys questionable orders to fire on a foreign country and is declared rogue. After this incident, the sub harbors at a lush tropical island run by a broken-toothed tough guy with an open-air bar run by an exotic semi-Asian chick, and a NATO station run by a Nutella-loving French chick. Now the Colorado’s crew has two sets of enemies: the United States and this random island’s inhabitants. That’s the whole story.

Taking their roles very seriously are Captain Marcus Chaplain (Andre Braugher) who keeps flip flopping ranks with his executive officer Sam Kendal (Felicity‘s Scott Speedman-who still looks like he should be Felicity’s boyfriend, not commanding a submarine), and Lieutenant Grace Shepard (Daisy Betts) who is in the awkward position of being the U.S. president’s daughter. In the middle of all this, back in D.C., is the fast-talking Kylie Sinclair (Autumn Reeser, The O.C.). Sinclair has something to do with the cool stuff on the submarine and disrobes in under 30 seconds of showing up on screen, all the while going on 100 miles an hour about her crazy creations on the sub while her boyfriend follows glaze-eyed. If you’re into military dramas with a lot of action and good-looking people in uniform, Last Resort could be a contender. Just not sure how long it can drag out trying to find who gave the false order and how many overlapping conspiracies will be uncovered in the process.
