Chris Sheridan has built a great post-society world in Motorcycle Samurai, and a quite intriguing title character in White Bolt, the mysterious, cooler-than-a-cucumber woman with the skull painted on her helmet. But despite some post-apocalyptic trappings, this is really like a spaghetti western, and Sheridan captures that mood perfectly.

Some of the story logisticsa bounty, a boss, a sibling fallout, and betrayalbegin to get a little muddy and aren’t quite as inspiring as the fine trappings (the stylish, stylized art and the intriguing atmosphere) that the story wears. But overall, it’s worth the ride. (www.topshelfcomix.com)
