Summer’s here and the time is ripe for a bright and breezy indie pop record with hidden depths to take up residence on our stereos and invade our ears and hearts. As luck would have it, Sam Evian provides us with just one such record with You, Forever. Even as he’s proclaiming “I don’t care, I don’t care anymore, not like before” on the conversational chorus of opener “IDGAF,” he’s doing so with such joyful abandon that it’s hard not to want some of what he’s having. Elsewhere, “Health Machine” adds a delightful dose of fuzz, whilst “Next to You” and “Now I Feel It” groove beautifully, all the while adorned by beautifully placed and processed vocals, on which the echo and reverb is just perfect. A true early summer delight. (www.samevian.com)
