The Dream Synopsis EP

On The Dream Synopsis EP, The Last Shadow Puppets deliver a quartet of diverse cover tunes that sidestep their stylistic orchestral rock, framed by a couple of reworked tracks from their 2016-released second album, Everything You’ve Come to Expect. But they don’t bypass their sense of adventure and pop experimentation.

Effortlessly shifting styles, the duo of Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (The Rascals) treat us to legit rockabilly, gritty Brit rock, sinewy post-punk, and the contemplative musings of Leonard Cohen, bookended by The Last Shadow Puppets’ moody pop.

Tight and snappy, with ornate atmospherics and shrewd guitar leads, the well-crafted tracks are awash in reverb and brightened by Turner’s chameleonic voice and signature sneer. The fact the EP was recorded live in one day at Future-Past Studios in Hudson, NY makes it all that more compelling. (www.thelastshadowpuppets.com)
