The Middle is a new ABC sitcom featuring Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) as Frankie Heck, a middle-aged mother of three trying to maintain her sanity among parenting responsibilities and a dead-end job in the middle of nowhere, Indiana. Her kids, Axl, Brick, and Sue provide constant stress, in the form of school meetings, extracurricular activities, and endless sarcasm from an eldest son who prefers to walks around the house without pants. Chris Kattan plays a bit part as Heck’s coworker at the car dealership where Heck is a saleswoman. It’s as if Heaton’s previous sitcom character divorced Raymond and moved to the Midwest-only this time it’s the kids, not the in-laws, who provide the grief. (www.abc.go.com/shows/the-middle)
