Coachella: Field Notes #2

12:13 pm

Getting a later start today. First act, Destroyer. See you on the field!

2:54 pm

Made it through security just in time for Azealia Banks to sing a little bit of “Valerie” a capella. Hardly a cloud in the sky. Everybody in security line was sharing their horror stories of a rainy, windy Coachella.

4:38 pm

Trying to meet up with the lovely Laura Studarus at tUnE-yArDs, who is manning our Twitter feed. Keepin em honest! Unfortunately, all I’ve managed to find is a girl with a tambourine and no sense of rhythm. This might be painful.

5:25 pm

“Just close your sunglasses eyes for a second and imagine a beautiful place with sun and mountains in the background and then open your eyes and you’re here!”

6:01 pm

Andrew, the prettiest song bird of them all gets to kick off the sunset hour for us.

7:23 pm

And the one and only Jeff Mangum.

8:24 pm

And just like that, Annie Clark goes crowdsurfing to new song, “Crocodile.” In her words, “Fuck yeah, Coachella.”

9:02 pm

Feist feels good about the evening. “We accept you as an audience. You accept us as a musical performance group.” Deal.

10:24 pm

Not sure which is more entertaining: watching Godspeed or watching their engineer hauling ass. At any rate, it smells like Nag Champa in here.
