Stockholm’s Nervous Nellie combines the charm of Shout Out Louds with the slick energy of Phoenix. (As though those two names weren’t near-unimpeachable on their own.) Take a listen to “Gloves,” the title cut from the band’s forthcoming debut EP, due out February 12.
At the end of last year, Carpark Records released a free holiday album. Among the Yuletide gems to arise from the project was Singer’s “languid too 25-08.” Recast “Set Piece,” the understated electro track has gotten a video. In it, the musician preps for what could potentially be the battle of the ages. Check out our premiere below.
Gothenburg, Sweden is a close-knit scene. The city—a cradle for electro duos such as Air France, The Tough Alliance, Studio, and The Embassy. While the first three on that list have called it a day (rest in peace) we’ll see at least one more release from The Embassy. On February 26 the band will release Sweet Sensation via their own imprint. Check out lead single “Related Artist” below. The track has a dark, danceable 1980s feel.
Club 8 will return this April with their 8th studio release, Above the City. Since three months is a long wait for anything (particularly well-crafted pop) the Stockholm-based duo has given us a first taste in the form of a video for album cut, “Kill Kill Kill.”
Be warned though—going along with the track’s themes of animal abuse and humans’ willingness to turn their back on it—the clip features some disturbing images of what happens in a slaughter house before blood is spilled.
“We stole the song title from McCarthy,” says songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Johan Angergård. “As much as I love them the topic of “kill kill kill kill” (yes, we settled with one “kill” less…) felt really wrong. They were offended by animal right activists caring more about animals than people. Which, of course, is not true. I believe most would be happy if animals were treated as animals in opposite to dead, manufactured products.”
Life is better with a little adventure, right? That’s the premise behind Alpaca Sport’s new video “As Long as I Have You.” In it, the duo spends the day with a few wild animals—soundtracked by their brand of bittersweet indie pop.

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the Los Angeles-by-way-of Chicago ambient/pop duo Houses. Thankfully, they’re back—and our dreams have never sounded more melodic.
