Scott Walker
Scott Walker has died at age 76, his label 4AD reports. No official cause of death has yet been given. Walker was born in Hamilton, Ohio as Noel Scott Engel in 1943, but found his initial success in the British music industry in the 1960s with the orchestral pop trio The Walker Brothers, before having a later career resurgence in experimental music.

Today was a fantastic day for new album releases, with fresh full-lengths from Strand of Oaks, Jenny Lewis, Andrew Bird, Tamaryn, Sleeper, These New Puritans, American Football, Lambchop, Avey Tare, Nilüfer Yanya, Ex Hex, and others. Album tracks from some of them made this week’s Songs of the Week list, which also contains several new singles released this week.

Britpop band Sleeper have released their first album in 21 years, The Modern Age, today via the band’s own label, Gorsky Records (no doubt named after their 1996 song “Good Luck Mr. Gorsky”). Now that the album is out, you can stream the whole thing here.
