Canadian group Foxwarren have released the single “Deadhead” along with a music video ahead of their new album, 2. The album is due out this Friday via ANTI- and will be supported by a North American tour later this summer. See the video for “Deadhead” and the group’s tour dates below.

Foxwarren is Andy Shauf, Avery and Darryl Kissick, Dallas Bryson, and Colin Nealis. This is their third single leading up to the new album, following “Yvonne” and “Listen2me.” The band speaks on the song, quoting the central lyric of “Deadhead.” “To all the deadheads, we say ‘don’t stop dancing.’”

The video for “Deadhead” is directed by Joe Cappa. Cappa spoke about the video in a press release. “I bought a bunch of wigs and medieval costumes and sort of came up with the premise of the video as I was dressing the puppets. When I put the blonde wig and mustache on the main character it really spoke to me. Those legs on the flute playing baby are my 10 month old son’s.”

The new album was created by Shauf taking segments and ideas for songs sent to him remotely by his bandmates and plugging them into a sampler, frankensteining them together into a piece that took on a life of its own.

Foxwarren’s tour will be their first since 2019. Additionally, record stores across North America and Europe are hosting listening parties for the album, beginning today and continuing through the album’s release on Friday.
