Aug 12, 2010 Arcade Fire
Last week, Arcade Fire‘s third album The Suburbs debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 156,000 copies sold. The news comes via their label, Merge, and label-mates Spoon, who tweeted “Let the record reflect that Merge Records is the NUMBER ONE LABEL IN THE USA! Here’s to Arcade Fire and Merge: #1—156k copies sold.” The album also did well on the U.K. album charts, reaching #1 there too. This is the band’s first chart-topping album in the U.S., as their last LP, Neon Bible, debuted at #2.
Last Thursday, Arcade Fire played their second show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The whole live show was webcasted and can be seen here. 12 Monkeys and Brazil filmmaker Terry Gilliam directed the show.
