The Archies is a new comic book series that features Archie and his friends (Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Reggie) in a band on tour. Most issues will feature a guest appearance by a different real life band. We’ve previously reported that Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES will appear in issues #2 and #3, where they will mentor the band, and that Canadian sister duo Tegan and Sara will appear in issue #5. What we didn’t tell you is that Under the Radar‘s co-publisher Mark Redfern helped arrange for CHVRCHES and Tegan and Sara to appear in The Archies, as he knows the comic book’s co-writer, Alex Segura, and has connections with both bands. As a thank-you, Mark and his co-publisher/wife Wendy Redfern have a cameo in issue #3, where they are interviewing CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry backstage, alongside MTV’s Crystal Bell. Check it out above (Mark and Wendy are to the left of Mayberry).

The issue hits stores December 13 and more info on it (as well as more art from the issue) can be found here. The Archies comes from writers Alex Segura and Matt Rosenberg, with art by Joe Eisma.
