Caroline Rose has announced a new album, year of the slug, and shared its first single, “conversation with shiv (liquid k song).” Rose has also announced a tour of Southern U.S. independent venues. Year of the slug will be available exclusively on vinyl and Bandcamp and is due out next week, February 7. The new album was recorded on Garageband via a phone and has a raw, demo-like, quality. “I’m not a McDonald’s hamburger,” says Rose in a press release. “I’m just trying to make music diverse enough that AI can’t reproduce it.”

In regards to the tour of independent venues, Rose says: “These places are the working class of the touring industry. They’re the ones hit hardest by the corporations hoarding all the money at the top and yet they still find a way to keep their doors open. I cut my teeth in these small clubs. I’m really grateful for them.”

Year of the slug follows Rose’s 2023 album, The Art of Forgetting, released via New West. (Read our review of it here and read our interview with Rose on the album here).
