Cliffords have unveiled their latest single, “Bittersweet”, marking their first release under newly formed label Soil To The Sun. The track sees the Cork band stepping into a new chapter, working alongside producer Richie Kennedy at Battery Studios in London, following their self-financed and self-released debut EP last year. Listen HERE.

Fronted by Iona Lynch, Cliffords fuse melody-rich shoegaze with the raw intensity of grunge, crafting a widescreen and cinematic sound. Lynch’s vocals, , soar above the sonic landscape, setting the band apart as they prepare to take their music to bigger stages. As an introduction to a broader audience, “Bittersweet” serves as a bold and ambitious statement of intent.

“‘Bitterswee’t is a more abstract look at nostalgia and our last few years of living in Cork,” says Lynch. “The first few lines of the song—‘the city begged look up’—come from something my grandad always said to me: ‘look up or you’ll miss half the beauty of the city.’”

While Cork may not yet rival Dublin in terms of musical exports, Cliffords are proving that ambition doesn’t have to be geographically confined. Their hunger for something greater than local acclaim positions them as potential torchbearers for the next wave of Irish talent, with Iona Lynch’s magnetic presence poised to inspire a new generation of musicians in and beyond their hometown.
