Seattle rock trio Coral Grief have shared the third single, “Paint By Number,” ahead of their new album Air Between Us, which is due to release July 18 via Suicide Squeeze, Anxiety Blanket, and Den Tapes. Check out the new single below.

This is Coral Grief’s debut full-length LP, following 2023’s EP Daydrops. The album is a tribute to Seattle. “My good old city is someone’s nasty new one, and people will always lament what it used to be,” says the group’s bassist Lena Farr-Morrissey, who grew up in South Seattle. “Every time you leave and return home, it’s like a funhouse mirror. It’s not better or worse, it’s just different.”

“Paint By Number” is the third single ahead of Air Between Us, following “Latitude” and “Rockhounds.” “For this song, we started playing around with rhythmic elements that were fun to bounce off of each other,” says Farr-Morrissey about the newest single. “It developed into a contemplation on learning how to bring liveliness and color into bleak times, which is a constant effort these days.”

Both “Latitude” and “Rockhounds” previously made our Song of the Week lists.

The group will embark on a west coast tour for the album beginning in late July.
