Last month, Crows announced their upcoming album, Reason Enough. Today, they drop a new single, “Vision Of Me,” a standout track following their previous release, “Bored.”

Singer James Cox delves into the personal turmoil behind “Vision Of Me,” sharing, “When writing ‘Vision Of Me,’ I was grappling with some unhealthy emotional tendencies I’d developed over several years. I was exploring my own reactive behavior and becoming someone I hated, and at the same time, coming to terms with the reasons this happened. It’s a very cathartic song for me as it stirs up some difficult memories, but also shows me how far I’ve come

Director Alexandre Do, reflecting on the song’s theme, commented, “This song made me think of how hard it is to change as a person, how we usually fall back to our own habits. I wanted to see hundreds of clones of James, past versions of him who all do the same thing in an immovable routine. Making this music video was a real feat, but I am ecstatic seeing it on screen and so thankful to all the people who believed in us and the idea.”

Crows burst onto the scene with their 2019 debut, Silver Tongues, establishing themselves as a punk band with a fierce, abrasive spirit. Their follow-up in 2022, Beware Believers, expanded on this foundation, blending high-octane energy with sharp, political lyricism.

Reason Enough, slated for release on September 27th via Bad Vibrations, retains the band’s punk ethos while showcasing a more refined and cohesive sound. The album represents the band’s most mature work to date, featuring more melodic elements than their previous projects. They collaborated with Mercury Prize-winning producer Andy Savours, known for his work with Black Country, New Road, and My Bloody Valentine.

During the creation of Reason Enough, band members James Cox (vocals), Steve Goddard (guitar), Jith Amarasinghe (bass), and Sam Lister (drums) traded their usual East London studio for a former Catholic church and convent in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The crypt of this “weird little studio” provided a unique and inspiring setting for the album’s foundation. Armed with a multitude of ideas, the band returned to London to refine their work.

Crows’ music has always been laced with political threads, and Reason Enough feels like an eruption of these themes. Drawing from a challenging year, both personally and in the broader societal context, Cox’s lyrics reflect a sense of malaise, isolation, and a desire for growth. The album balances existential musings with a soulful exploration, delivering a discerning brand of indie-rock.
