David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Take a Knee on “The X-Files” Set in Solidarity with NFL Protests

The iconic ‘90s television show The X-Files returned to TV screens in January, 2016 with a six-episode event series on FOX starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Although the last season got mixed reviews from critics and fans, it was a ratings hit, and so production is underway on a new season. Anderson took to Twitter to post a photo from the set of her and Duchovny down on one knee, with the simple hashtags #TheXFiles and #TakeAKnee. The gesture is in reference to the recent protests by NFL football players and other athletes who take a knee (or link arms) at games during the national anthem to bring attention to racial injustice and police shootings of African Americans. President Donald Trump has said that such players should be fired, which has only escalated the protests as players and owners unite in solidarity against the President. See the post below.

My one best love in media has been Xfiles since I was 18 years old.  I would stay home every friday night just to watch Xfiles. 8pm.  My best friend came over every Friday to watch with me.  I bought the Blurays all seasons as soon as they hit the shelves, I had them all in VHS and then on DVD and then on BRD.  Last Dec I spent 300$ on the new Bluray set. 

This is a very sad day for me. I wont be watching any more Xfiles old or new in the future.  I can never again look at either Gillian or David and not see them throwing the USA under the bus to be trendy. 

You guys work for Chris Carter.  Possibly the best director writer of science fiction episodes of all things strange and enticing that lurks on the fringes.  You must know you have just alienated a huge chunk of your fanbase. you must know. Did you have to go an join the ranks of ANTIFA?  Pushing communism in the USA?  Pushing a narrative that is dangerous and ill suited for anything Xfiles? Really? you both should be fired.  I don’t care if you are the Xfiles gods. No excuses should be tolerated for this. I cannot believe FOX allowed this with their one show that has the golden egg.

Down with Hollywood and NFL.
