Death Cab for Cutie have announced some shows in honor of the 20th anniversary of Plans. Nation of Language and The American Analog Set are set to support, depending on the show. Check out the dates below.
2005’s Plans was the band’s major label debut on Atlantic and saw the band break further into the mainstream consciousness. The album went platinum and saw the band garner their first GRAMMY nominations. It also landed the band on the cover of Issue 10 of Under the Radar.
Frontman Ben Gibbard had this to say in a press release: “Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever—it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations. We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion.”
The band’s last album was 2022’s Asphalt Meadows, which was considered by many to be a true return to form.

In 2003 the band launched a joint tour with Gibbard’s other band The Postal Service in honor of the 20th anniversaries of Death Cab’s Transatlanticism and The Postal Service’s Give Up.

Death Cab for Cutie’s current lineup also includes Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr. In the Plans era Chris Walla was in the band, alongside Gibbard, Harmer, and McGerr.
Gibbard is also performing a solo show at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco on February 25 as part of the Noise Pop festival.
