Deerhoof Announce New Album and Share New Song “Immigrant Songs” via Craigslist

Noble and Godlike in Ruin Out April 25 via Joyful Noise

Mar 20, 2025

Experimental rockers Deerhoof have announced a new album, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, and shared its new single, “Immigrant Songs.” However, you won’t find the track on any streaming platform… Instead, it has been released exclusively on Craigslist. Noble and Godlike in Ruin is due out April 25 via Joyful Noise. See the album’s artwork and tracklist below, as well as the band’s tour dates.

The band has posted a series of Craigslist “Services” posts advertising themselves for hire in towns including Brooklyn, Tucson, Portland, and Minneapolis. The posts include the album’s artwork, directions to listen to the new song, and messages such as “Singer with 31 years of experience will sing songs for you and your guests at your party.” One of the posts directs you to a secure link to hear the new song, which will eventually land on streaming platforms.

Deerhoof is Satomi Matsuzaki, Ed Rodriguez, John Dieterich, and Greg Saunier. “Immigrant Songs” follows the album’s double-B side single “Overrated Species Anyhow” and “Sparrow Sparrow,” songs you will be able to find on streaming.

Greg Saunier said this about “Immigrant Songs” in a press release: “This song is kind of a sequel to Satomi describing her immigration tribulations in ‘Exit Only.’ It’s what it feels like to see the discourse around immigration get so twisted. The most criminal and barbaric ‘migrant horde’ to invade America was from Europe. There’s a sector of racialized, underpaid immigrants, doing labor white people won’t, who are getting deported and dehumanized in record numbers in recent years. They are really the glue keeping our society from collapsing. It’s these heroic fugitives, not millionaire politicians holding little signs with one hand while sending out fundraising emails about ‘strengthening our borders’ with the other, who actually have a thing or two to teach us all about how to resist and survive.”

Noble and Godlike in Ruin is their 20th album, following 2023’s Miracle-Level, also released via Joyful Noise. The album is self-produced and features Saul Williams on the track “Under Rats.”

Deerhoof also announced that they will expand their North America headlining tour beginning in early May before heading to the U.K. and Europe in late July.
