Danish musician and poet Elias Rønnenfelt, known as the enigmatic frontman of Iceage, is set to release his highly anticipated debut solo album, Heavy Glory, on October 25th via Escho. Following the release of singles “Like Lovers Do” and “No One Else,” Rønnenfelt has dropped a new track from the album titled “Worm Grew a Spine,” giving a glimpse into his evolving sound.

Heavy Glory promises to be an immersive sonic journey that captures the raw experience of throwing oneself headfirst into life. It’s the work of an artist whose companions have always been a guitar and a pen, navigating themes of isolation, indulgence, and resilience in a chaotic world. Co-produced with Nis Bysted, the album was recorded in Copenhagen over a year, pieced together in chapters. Collaborators include Iceage’s drummer Dan Kjær Nielsen, Danish punk legend Peter Peter, as well as vocalists Fauzia and Joanne Robertson, who Rønnenfelt has previously teamed up with on Dean Blunt’s projects.

The album began to take shape during the uncertain times of spring 2022, when the pandemic still cast a shadow. Eager to reconnect with the stage, Rønnenfelt announced he would perform in Europe wherever he could find a crowd. He wrote songs on the road and performed them the next day, resulting in music that was conceived to be played anywhere—from forest clearings to living rooms, bookstores to chapels. The tracks reflect his experience as an artist constantly in motion, balancing fragility with strength, and pushing forward with certainty.
