Father John Misty Writes Lyrics for the “House of Cards” Theme Song

Father John Misty (real name Josh Tillman) has written lyrics to the instrumental theme song for the Netflix political drama House of Cards. He has posted them to Twitter, claiming they were official lyrics, but considering what a prankster Tillman is who knows if that’s true. The show stars Kevin Spacey as politician Frank Underwood and Jeff Beal wrote the theme song. The lyrics/Twitter posts are below, followed by the instrumental theme song (you’ll have to sing along).

Father John Misty’s excellent February 2015-released sophomore album, I Love You, Honeybear, was Under the Radar’s #1 album of 2015. Consequently, Father John Misty was on the cover of our Best of 2015 print issue and you can read that cover story here. Also read our earlier 2015 print article on Father John Misty and our earlier 2015 bonus Q&A with Tillman (also read our 2012 interview with him).
