Final Fantasy Reveals Heartland’s Concept

Third LP is About a "farmer named Lewis...fictional world of Spectrum"

Violin master Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy) has been busy touring the world and being the de facto house arranger for indie groups such as Arcade Fire, Beirut and Pet Shop Boys.

He’s finally getting around to releasing his long-gestating third LP, Heartland. The 45-minute LP flutters to our doorstep on January 12th through his new label, Domino. It’s the follow-up to 2006’s Polaris Music Prize-winning He Poos Clouds. Alongside his flight of string-y fancy are cameos by The Czech Symphony, fellow arranging maven Nico Muhly, Gentleman Reg and Arcade Fire percussionist Jeremy Gara.

Discussing the release in a press missive, Pallett said, “The songs themselves form a narrative concerning a farmer named Lewis and the fictional world of Spectrum. The songs are one-sided dialogues with Lewis, a young, ultra-violent farmer, speaking to his creator.”

Several of the track titles below mention this “ultra-violent” man. Sounds like a fitting concept to follow up He Poos Cloud‘s loose references to The Chronicles of Narnia and role-playing games, Dungeons & Dragons and Final Fantasy.
