The Hold Steady
Flip These Houses is a benefit concert on September 28th at the Knockdown Center in Queens, NY. Its purpose is to encourage people to vote Democratic in this November’s midterm elections. New additions to the line up have been announced today and they include Britt Daniel (Spoon), Mac McCaughan (Superchunk), Laura Cantrell, Doug Gillard (GBV/Nada Surf), Eszter Balint, King Roeser (Urge Overkill), Liza Colby, and Shannon Conley (Hedwig & The Angry Inch/Lez Zepplin). Proceeds go to Power to the Polls (which is affiliated with the Women’s March and is encouraging women to go to go and vote).
The rest of the previously announced line up includes Craig Finn (solo artist/The Hold Steady), Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Michael Shannon (actor/musician), Ted Leo, Hamilton Leithauser (ex-Walkmen), Matthew Caws (Nada Surf), Ryan Miller (Guster), Syd Straw, Richard Baluyut (Versus/Flower), Charles Bissell (The Wrens), Nicole Atkins, Mick Collins (Dirtbombs/Gories), Amy Rigby, Jeffrey Gaines, Sammy James Jr (Kinky Boots, The Mooney Suzuki), Eric Davidson(New Bomb Turks), Sam Cohen, Richie Birkenhead (Into Another/Youth Of Today), Caithlin DeMarrious (Rainer Maria), Anders Parker (Varnaline), Steve Myers (Afghan Whigs/Mighty Fine), The Resistance Revival Chorus, Mick Collins (Dirtbombs/Gories), Jason Narducy (Split Single, Bob Mould Band), Tom Clark (2A Treehouse), Mike Fornatale (Left Banke/The Monks) Renee LoBue (Elk City), Lenny Zenith, and Graham Norwood.
Flip These Houses’ Executive Producer Mike Stuto had this to say about the event in a press release: “President Donald Trump, the Trump administration, and ‘Trump-ism’ as defined by the President’s words, tweets, and policies, is an existential threat to the nation and to Western democracy as a whole. This concert is a call to all citizens to vote for the opposition party in the November 2018 elections. (Democrats and Independents who caucus with Democrats), and to raise awareness and funds to help win our country back from those who will let its legacy be destroyed.”
