Heavenly Announce First New Album in 30 Years, Share Video for New Song “Excuse Me”

Highway to Heavenly Due Out February 27 on Skep Wax

Jan 06, 2026

Beloved UK 1990s twee/indie pop/jangle pop band Heavenly have announced their first new album in 30 years, the amusingly titled Highway to Heavenly, and shared a new song from it, “Excuse Me.” Highway to Heavenly is due out February 27 on Skep Wax. Check out the video for “Excuse Me” below, along with the album details.

Heavenly’s last studio album was 1996’s Operation Heavenly. The current lineup features original members Amelia Fletcher, Peter Momtchiloff, Cathy Rogers, and Rob Pursey, with Ian Button joining on drums. Original drummer Mathew Fletcher took his own life just before Operation Heavenly was released, leading the band to retire the name Heavenly. The remaining members continued on as Marine Research, releasing a lone album in 1999, and then reformed in 2002 as Tender Trap, releasing four albums under that name until going on indefinite hiatus in 2014. Heavenly reformed in 2023, with Button on drums, for some performances. And last year they released the new single, “Portland Town,” which is featured on Highway to Heavenly.

Toby Burroughs produced the new album, which was recorded at Rumbaba (Deptford, London) and at The Sunday School (Kent).
