Printing Costs Are Up – Subscriptions Now 25% Off

Sep 19, 2025

Mark from Under the Radar here. Our summer subscription drive was a success, but just as we were getting ready to send Issue 75 to press, our printer announced another price increase. Advertising sales haven’t caught up, so we still need to raise $3,000 to cover printing costs.

We know you’ve been waiting patiently for the next issue—and we’re just as eager to share it. But rising costs make it clear: we can’t do it without your help.

In a time when independent voices are under threat, supporting truly independent media—free from corporate ownership or billionaire backers—matters more than ever.

Here are four ways you can keep Under the Radar alive and thriving:

1. Subscribe—25% Off

Never subscribed? Or has your subscription lapsed? Now’s the perfect time to come back. We’re offering 25% off print subscriptions—as low as $3.75 per issue—with the code FUNDUTR25.

Each issue includes:

  • 20–30 in-depth interviews (Issue 75 continues our fan-favorite ’90s theme, with new conversations with Pulp, Suede, Garbage, Air, De La Soul, Clueless’ director, and more).
  • 20–50 album reviews.
  • A downloadable MP3 sampler of up to 40 new tracks.
  • Original photography and exclusive features that often remain print-only.

Subscribe here and use FUNDUTR25 for 25% off (valid worldwide on both four-issue and eight-issue subscriptions).

2. Advertise—Up to 70% Off

Our readers are vinyl devotees, crate-diggers, and music obsessives. If you’ve got a release, event, or product for them, there’s still space in the next issue—and rates are deeply discounted (up to 70% off).

New this year: special lower rates for unsigned artists and tiny labels. Prices start at just $250.

3. Buy Back Issues—50% Off

All back issues are half price with code UTRBACK50.

Also 50% off: Covers of Covers, our 20th anniversary 2-CD set featuring exclusive tracks by Peter Bjorn and John, Cassandra Jenkins, Grandaddy, Water From Your Eyes, Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene), and more. Grab the CD here, or get the CD + 20th Anniversary Issue bundle here. For the CD use the promo code UTRCD50.

4. Support Us on Patreon

If every website visitor chipped in $1/month on Patreon, we wouldn’t even need ads to fund the print magazine.

Just 300 readers giving $10/month (even for one month) would close the current funding gap.

You can also donate directly at the bottom of our Square page.

For 23 years, we’ve outlasted most of our peers—not because we had deep pockets, but because we kept it personal. Because we care. Because we believe music journalism should be driven by passion, not algorithms.

Print’s not dead—but it does need your help.
