Multi-hyphenate English musician Jacob Collier has released his first new single of 2025, a harmonically lush but pared back cover of a lesser-known Beach Boys song. “Keep An Eye On Summer” is nestled in the Beach Boys’ 1964 album Shut Down Volume 2, and the lovely ballad seems to have fallen under the shadow of other album hits like “Fun, Fun, Fun” and “Don’t Worry Baby.” But the song makes complete sense for Collier, who has long expressed his admiration for the Beach Boys and has taken much inspiration from Wilson’s writing and arranging for his own music (even titling his debut album after the Beach Boys’ song “In My Room,” and including a subtly groovy cover on the record).

Collier shares in a press release that he “spontaneously decided to record a rendition of the song” in June of 2024, alone in his room with a few spare hours and his five string guitar. “In lieu of Brian’s passing a few months ago, it felt right to share it with the world, as an homage to him, as this summer comes to a close,” Collier says. “Keep An Eye On Summer” is a touching tribute and is yet more proof that Collier is a masterful interpreter
