Big Thief are a promising new band on Saddle Creek, perhaps the indie label’s most exciting new signee in several years. The four-piece are releasing their debut album, Masterpiece, on the label on May 27. Now they have shared the third single from the album, “Humans.” Listen below.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Adrianne Lenker had this to say about the song in a press release: “That state of confusion immediately after you’ve been vulnerable with someone who sees you with total acceptance and unconditional love, and your veils and defenses dissolve piece by piece, until there is nothing left to hide behind. How treacherous that feels. Waking up the morning after and wanting to run away, panicking, but also feeling an instinctual need to grow past your own limitations. When you’re fooling yourself you can’t look in the mirror straight on, and when you can’t see yourself, you can’t see another, and you’re lost to love.”

Big Thief have some tour dates in the works, including some supporting Nada Surf and others supporting M. Ward. Those are below too (followed by the album’s first two singles, “Masterpiece” and “Real Love”).
