Listen: John Carpenter - “Night”
Horror Icon's Debut Album Lost Themes Out Feb. 3
Jan 12, 2015 John Carpenter
With only a few exceptions, director John Carpenter has scored every one of his own motion pictures, most famously Halloween and Assault on Precinct 13. On Feb. 3 the longtime filmmaker and horror icon will release his first non-soundtrack album titled Lost Themes. In anticipation of the record’s arrival, Carpenter has shared the included track, “Night.”
In addition to the song, distributing label Sacred Bones has announced that a digital deluxe version of the album will feature remixes Zola Jesus and Dean Hurley, JG Thirlwell, Blanck Mass (Ben Power of Fuck Buttons), ohGr of Skinny Puppy, Silent Servant, and Bill Kouligas of Pan Records. Carpenter himself is also scheduled to appear at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Feb. 5 to discuss Lost Themes and his influential career, with BAMcinématek hosting a month-long retrospective featuring all of Carpenter’s films.
